Dawn of the Dead Collector's Edition VHS issued in the US by distributor Anchor Bay Entertainment in 1997

"Collector's Edition" NTSC VHS. Extended 'Cannes' Cut. Two-tape set. Slipcover.

As opposed to the "presented in letterbox form" mention on the cover, the first batch was produced unmatted (full frame) leading to a recall and withdraw. Also, while the correct tapes have the complete film on tape 1 and the trailers on tape 2 (as mentioned on the cover), the unmatted tapes have the film spanned accross the two tapes with the trailers at the end of the film on tape 2. Released in 10 September 1997 despite the 1996 date on the cover.

Includes a two-sided "Digitally Mastered Collector's Edition" order form.

From my personal collection. Second Dawn of the Dead item I added to my collection.

I can confirm that the correctly matted tapes were also produced with the label printed directly on the cassette but I can't confirm that the unmatted tapes were produced with a sticker label.

Dawn of the Dead VHS issued in the US by distributor Republic Pictures in 1993

NTSC VHS. Slipcover. Theatrical Cut. Running time on cover is wrong, actual running time is 127 minutes, not 130. Althought the 127 minutes Theatrical Cut was George A. Romero's favorite version of the film, labeling their release as "Director's Cut" did not go unnoticed. Republic Pictures ended up having to rebrand the covers by affixing "Unrated Theatrical Version" stickers over the Director's Cut notice.
