NTSC LaserDisc. Theatrical Cut.
Some interesting notes by Tim Lucas (Video Watchdog):
The theatrical version of Dawn of the Dead has been released twice on laserdisc in this country, and both editions are now out of print. The first release came in 1989 from Image Entertainment, and was generally a flawed presentation. The two-disc set featured dull colors and contrasts, excessive grain, a flat mono sound mix, and a CAV side with mostly unsteady still frames.
The second release came out in 1993 under the eagled banner of Republic Pictures Home Video, through the auspices of Lumière Pictures, but was recalled and withdraw from sale within days of reaching stores. Lucky souls who pounced on this disc right away were rewarded with a much improved presentation; the source materials were much cleaner, the colors stronger and brighter, and the mono track was surprisingly vivid, conveying the ostinato bass of Goblin's "Zombie March" with perfect, gut-thudding deadliness. Both sets were flawed, however, in that neither provided chapter stops or indices for the film---quite an oversight, considering the film's unusual length. The Republic jacket lists an inaccurate running time of 131m. [1]
